Psilocybe cubensis, commonly referred to as the magic mushroom, shroom, golden halo, cube, or gold cap, is a psilocybin mushroom with moderate potency. Its principal active compounds, psilocybin and psilocin, contribute to its psychedelic effects. Belonging to the fungus family Hymenogastraceae, it was formerly known as Stropharia cubensis.
